Townmaking Forum to be held March 6-7th, 2004

ICA Japan and Lens International and TMA Japan will jointly sponsor this forum to promote citizens' active involvement in planning and creating (implementing) new ideas in their community. In the morning, we will learn the art of creating effective communicational relationships. After lunch, a workshop will be held using ICA's Technology of Participation (ToP) method, in which participants examine the current reality of citizen participation in town making, a shared vision will be created for participatory town making, problems and underlying contradictions will be examined, and strategic proposals will be developed to solve the contradictions and hasten the way towards realization of a common vision.

ToP is widely in Nepal, India, Mexico, African nations, the US and other countries to establish dynamic, participatory, and sustainable projects.

Participants will be given materials (in Japanese) on town making and related funding schemes, and encouraged to use ToP in their communities.

Sorry, we have no other materials in English at this time. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more or wish to promote citizen-driven participation.
