We conducted lectures on primary health care in nine
villages in the first year and 21 villages in the second year. The demonstrations
in the lectures on family planning, first aid, maternity health care,
nutrition, and HIV drew much attention from the participants.

Despite efforts to disseminate information about water
sanitation among the villages, it is still an issue of great concern.
Because the villagers have to buy the water taken by the deep well project,
many villagers tend to use water from river and puddles.

In terms of primary health care, it is important to
disseminate knowledge specific to the area. For this reason, we have been
making efforts to foster leaders in the primary health care. It is usually
observed that only powerful figures in the villages will attend when it
comes to leadership training. Therefore, with careful consideration on
the selection of the participants, we have limited the participation to
midwives and those who enthusiastically worked in the field of primary
health care.

![]() As expected, there were many female participants selected for the leadership training on primary health care. There were five participants from each of the villages. As a result, 150 leaders on primary health care were born. |
Studying in groups makes the participants more effective in their activities. |
