All NTT Workers
Union's Volunteer group visited Vietnam again!!!
To plant trees, construct toilets and for cultural exchange!

The site is Kim Boi district
located three hours drive from Hanoi. Ethnic minorty called
"Muong" is living there.
Most of the population in Kim Boi is living by growing rice.

We visited the primary school
in Du Sang commune and held a Japanese style sports day.
On this day, more than 200 children came to attend the sports
day.

What we did were, "passing
the big ball" "2 peole with 3 legs" etc...
Children were so happy since they did not have such event
in Kim Boi district. Japanese sports day was a great cultural
experience for both of us.

After the sports day, we
all walked around to pick up the plastic garbage. People in
Kim Boi did not have habit to pick up garbage, so first impression
was "Foreign people is doing some thing strange."
But after they know that was for cleaning the area, people
started to say "we can do this at home, too."

The trees KEO which NTT Workers
Union planted in 2003 grew to 160cm. Although the fruit trees
did not grow as big as KEO since they did not get enough rain
in 2004.

Thirty to fourty local villagers
attended the tree planting with the Japanese group. By progressing
the plantation together, we were able to plant 600 trees in
half a day.

ͺͺͺ"Fo" is very famous
Vietnamese food which we ate for breakfast. The photo is "Fo
Bo (Beef Fo)".
The right photo is school materials and Japanese traditional
doll which NTT Workers Union prepared for the primary schools.ͺͺͺ

Volleyball is very popular
in Kim Boi. We held 2 games, Vietnam vs Japan!
The result of the game... Unfortunatly Vietnamese team won
2 games. They are looking forward to win next year!

The Kim Boi people welcome
us by cooking "TickCho". That is dog meat...
The participant's comments were pros and cons. "Wow!
Let me try!" or "No... I can't."

Fifteen participants stayed
in two houses. One night home stay in Vietnamese traditional
house, get the water from the well, use the detached toilet.
We experienced the Moung people's real life.

We construced two toilets in
primary school of Trung Tien commune. Children used to did
their business out side in insanitary condition, but now more
than 200 children can use this toilet.

Women participants tought Japanese
song called "Under the cestnut tree" in the kindergarten.
We translated in Vietnamese for the kindergarten teacher.

ͺThis is very popular view
in Halong Bay. Women and baby is rowing around the bay to
sell fruits.
Thank you very much
for All NTT Workers Union for the life remembering memory! |
