ブロボ郡ブロボ町及び周辺１０ヶ村でのセミナー活動を始める前に、この地域のエイズ感染率を調べるため、一つの村につき１０人のエイズ検査を行った。写真は、コートジボアールの伝統的 な服を来ている男性から採血している様子。

Before starting the seminars in Brobo village and the 10 surrounding villages, AIDS tests were given to 10 people per village in order to check the AIDS infection rate in this area. In the picture above, the doctor cooperating for our project is drawing blood from a man wearing traditional clothes.

Villages around Brobo-

7.プロジェクトはブロボ町及び周辺１０カ村で行った。ブロボ 町から約１０Km離れているブ−ンダ村の様子。ブロボ群内の ６３村のうちで電気の恩恵を受けている４村のうちの一つ。

7.The project took place in the town of Brobo and the surrounding 10 villages. This is Bounda village which is about 10 km away from Brobo. It is one of the 4 among 63 villages of Brobo county where the inhabitants have the benefit of electricity.

8.ブルクロにて。マラリアと他の病気の区別が難しいため、適切な治 療ができずに命を落とす子供が多い。保健衛生委員はエイズだけでな く健康や衛生一般の知識を持っている者として村人に頼りにされてい る。

8.At Broukro. Since it is difficult for villagers to distinguish malaria from other diseases, many babies die because necessary treatments aren't given. The villagers rely on health agents in their village to be people who are expertized in not only AIDS but in health and hygienic issues.

9.ンドゥムゥクアシクロ村は、ブロボ群内の他の多くの村と同 じで、電気が通っておらず、また深刻な水不足に悩まされてい る。

9. N'doumoukouassikro village doesn't have electricity like most of the villages in Brobo, and villagers also suffer because of water shortage.

10.バンガッスウ村にて。この地域では個々の家庭の経済的理由により、子供たち皆が学校に行か れるわけではない。行かれたとしても、中学・高校までではなく、途中で学業を断念する子供も 沢山いる。

10.At Gbangassou village. In the region of Brobo, not all of the children have access to school education because of financial reasons. Even if they did, many children unwillingly abandon their studies even before going to Jr.High or High School.

11.コフィ＝コフィクロ村にて。一見健康そうに見えるこの子供達でも、生まれつきエイズに感 染している可能性がある。

20.２０００年５月１９日、中学の生徒によるエイズセミ ナーが開かれた。写真は「村のエイズ」という劇の様子。古い伝統の色濃く残る村でのエイズをめぐる話。手 前の彼女はフェティシズムの呪術僧の役を演じている。

20.On May 19th, 2001, an AIDS seminar by Jr.High students was held in Brobo. Students played a theater showing AIDS in a traditional village. In the photo, she is playing a role of the fetish leader.

Training of Health Agents-

23.ICAの衛生トレーナーであるマ−セルが、エイズについての 講義を保健衛生委員(ASC)に行っているところ。委員は１０ カ村から各３名づつ、計3０人集まった。研修の後、彼らはそれ ぞれの村で活動を始めた。

.There are 3 ASCs from each village, and we work with 10 villages now. After the training, the ASCs began to work as healthcare agents in their village.

30. We were happy to see that in this shop in Koffi-koffikro, they started selling condoms since this April, due to requests of the villagers who participated in the seminars. On the left hand of the shopkeeper is a brown box of condom named "Prudence".

31.ICAスタッフのマーセル（左）が、バンガッスウ村の保健衛生委員、セシル(右）と話をしている。週2回、２ 人のICAトレーナーは村々に赴き保健衛生委員の活動の様子を確かめたり、相談に載ったりした。セシルが持っ ているのは彼女が自分で手に入れた木で出来た男性器で、彼女はこれを使ってコンドームの使い方を皆に教えて いる。

The 2 ICA trainers visit the villages twice a week (one or two village each time) to see how the agents' work is going and to encourage them and give advice. Cecile is holding a wood penis that she got herself, and with this she teaches how to use condoms.

In the villages where it is difficult to gather people, the ASCs do small seminars. Unfortunately, there aren't so many young people who are interested in voluntary activities, but being only 19 and 21 yrs old and the youngest among the health agents, Mermoz and Felicite are working with great enthusiasm.

Evaluation Meeting -33.保健衛生委員たちとの評価ミーティング。この日は１２人の委員 が集まり、昨年１２月からの活動報告と評価、意見交換などを行っ た。

33.An evaluation meeting of the ASCs was held on July3rd. 12 agents participated that day, and reported about their activities since last December, and exchanged opinions.

34.評価ミーティングで他の委員の活動ぶりや意見を知ることは、委 員達自身にとっても今後の活動を続ける上で大きな励みになったよ うである。

34.To know how the agents in other villages have been doing their activities, and learning their opinions seemed to encourage the agents to continue their work.

35.２００１年４月、ブアケにあるＮＧＯの協力で、栄養セミナーを 行った。栄養分に大変富んでいる大豆についての講義の後、料理の デモンストレーションが行われた。

35.In April 2001, a nutrition seminar was given with the cooperation of an NGO of Bouake. After a lecture on soybeans, a demonstration of how to make dishes was given.

36.大豆はこの地域では最近になってようやく少しづつ知られて来た食品。野菜の種類が少なく、貧困により肉 や魚をたまにしか買えない人の多いこの地域では特に、その安さと栄養価の高さから是非広めていきたい食品で ある。

36.Soybeans is a food that came to be known little by little recently in this region. Since there aren't so many vegetables, and not many people can buy meat or fish every day, it is a food we think is very suitable to popularize because of its rich food value.

37. 4月に指導を受けたICAスタッフが、6月にブロボの町で大豆を使った料理のセミナーを行った。参加者たちが スタッフの指導のもとに調理をし、味と作り方を覚えてもらう。写真はゆでた大豆を潰しているところ。

37. The ICA staff who was trained in the April seminar held a nutrition seminar at Brobo in June. The participants cook under the guidance of the trainer in order to understand the taste and how to cook. In this photo, they are crushing boiled soybeans.

The AIDS prevention center-

38.エイズ予防センターは、青少年職業訓練センターの左側に建設さ れた。

38.The AIDS prevention center was built on the left side of the Youth Vocational Training Center, to the left of the trees, and behind the weaving center (picture left).

40.２００１年１月に完成したセンター。教室の他に、カウンセ リングルームも設けられている。教室は職業訓練校の保健衛 生の授業にも使われている。

42. As a part of the activities of the center, a small seminar only with young women was held. Sara who raised her hand when Marcelle asked "Who knows how to use condoms?", has a cardboard penis in her left hand and a condom in her right hand.

43.同セミナーにて。ビデオを見た後に、自分達の行動をどう変 えることができるか、皆で議論した。参加者が女性だったせい もあってか、皆の正直な意見がどんどん出た。

43. At the same seminar. After watching the video, we talked about how we can change our attitudes. Maybe because the participants were all women, everyone came up with a lot of honest opinions and ideas.

44.ブロボの町中で若者に話かけ、エイズや保健衛生の問題に ついて話をしているマーセル。センターで人が訪ねてくるのを ただ待っているだけでなく、町で直接人に話をするのも啓蒙活 動としては有効である。

44. Marcelle is explaining about AIDS and reproductive health issues to youngsters in Brobo. It is also effective to go out and talk to people directly rather than waiting at the center for people to come.

Seminars at churches 50.ブロボにある二つの教会でも啓蒙活動を行った。この地域で はキリスト教信者が多いため、教会と協力することは人々の興 味をより集めることにつながり、私たちの活動にとって大変 効果的である。写真はカトリック教会でのセミナーで、彼らは ブロボ周辺の村の若者。

50. ICA also did seminars in two churches of Brobo. Since there are many religous people in Brobo, cooperating with the church attracts people's attention, and is very effective to our activiies. This photo is a seminar at the Catholic church with youngsters of the surrounding villages.

52.セミナーのほとんどが皆の仕事と食事が終わった後、夜２０ 時頃から始まる。参加者が大変熱心なため、終わるのは大抵２ ２時半頃になる。

52. Most of the time, the seminars start around 20:00, when people have finished working and eating. Since the participamts are very interested, we end around 22:30 most of the time.

53. 人々の生活態度や考え方を変えるのは簡単ではないが、１年間活動を続けてきて、少しづつ効果が見えてき た。ＨＩＶ感染率が5人に１人というブロボ地域で、この状況に少しでも歯止めをかけられるよう、活動を続けて いきたい。

53. It is not easy to change people's attitudes and opinions, but after a year of activities, we have begun to see the effects. Brobo's AIDS infection rate is estimated to be 20%. We wil continue our activities to put a brake on this situation.
