人材育成支援事業（ザンビアからケニアへ）

ICAザンビアは、持続可能な農業技術指導や収入向上事業など、様々な農村開発プロジェクトを実施している。総合的な農村地域開発のアプローチを学び、より効果的な活動が行えるよう、今回ICAザンビアから2人の農業専門家を研修生としてケニアに派遣した。

ICA Zambia conducts various rural development projects such as sustainable agriculture development and income generation. Two agriculturist were sent as trainees to Kenya to learn integrated rural development approaches so that they can implement projects more effectively.

Project Overview

マチャコス地方の農村
A Village in Machakos District

１．ケニアのマチャコス地方の農村の風景。この近くでＪＩＣＡ、ケニア森林調究所、ケニア森林省による社会森林拡大モデル開発事業が行われている。
Scenery of a farmer village in Machakos in Kenya. Social Forestry Extension Model Development Project (SOFEM) is carried out near this village by JICA , Kenya Forestry Research Institute and Ministry of Forest of Kenya.

２．マチャコスの農家の台所。右の壼は「エンザロジコ」といって水の浄化作用がある。

３．ICAマチャコス事務所において、ICAザンビアの研修生のために、同事務所の活動についてのブリ－フィングを行った。
Briefing at the ICA Machacos Office concerning activities of the office for two Zambian trainees.

４．ICAマチャコスのスタッフから説明を受けるザンビア研修生（テディ・チャンブー氏、トラスト・カトワ氏）。
Mr. Teddy Chambwe and Mr. Trust Katowa, trainees from Zambia, are learning from staff of ICA Machakos.

カツマニ農業研究所

Katsumani Agricultural Reserach Center

６．マチャコスにあるカツマニ農業研究所。ケニアの乾燥地帯における農業生産向上のための農業調査センターである。
Katsumani Agricultural Research Center in Machakos. The center conducts agricultural research to develop agriculture in dry areas.

７．カツマニ農業調査研究所のジョージ・オクワチ所長より同研究所の活動について聞く。
Mr.George Okuwachi, the Director of the Katsumani Agricultural Research Center, is giving a talk about their activities.

８．同研究所の野外農場にて、さつまいもとキャッサバの栽培に関する説明を聞く。
Listening to the explanation concerning the cultivation of sweet potatoes and cassavas at the farm of the Research Center.

9．さつまいもの栽培について説明を受ける。右端は日本人スタッフの重田氏。
Listening to the explanation about cultivation of sweet potatoes. Mr.Shigeta, the Japanese staff, is on the right side.

ジーザス・ワーシップ・センター
Jesus Worship Center

11．ドーカス・エイド・インターナショナルによって支援されている「ジーザス・ワーシップ・センター」を訪問した。
Visting The Jesus Workshop Centre which is supported by Daucus Aid International.

12．同センターのパトリック所長より、耕作（ダブル・ディギング）の方法について聞く。
Patrick, director of the Center, is explaining about the double digging method.

13．乾燥地帯において、土壌改良のためのダブル・ディギングがどうして有効なのかを説明するパトリック所長。
Patrick is explaining why double digging is efficient for land improvement in dry areas.

14．マンゴー、レモンの栽培方法について聞く研修生。
The trainees are learning the methods of cultivating mango and lemon.

15．同センターでは女性を対象に裁縫の職業訓練を行っている。
At the center, a sewing vocational training is provided to women.

キトゥイ社会森林拡大モデルプロジェクト
SOFEM

16．ケニア森林調査研究所の「キトゥイ・センター」の正面玄関。同センターはJICA 、ケニア森林省と協力して「社会森林拡大モデル開発事業（SOFEM)」を実施している。
The front entrance of the Kitui Center of Kenya Forestry Research Center. The center is carrying out SOFEM, cooperating with JICA and Ministry of Forests of Kenya .

17．同センターのジェームス・キモンド所長より、センターの活動や「社会森林拡大モデル開発事業」について聞く。
Mr.James Kimmond, director of the center, is explaining about the activities of the cener and SOFEM.

18．社会森林拡大モデル開発事業の一環としてティバで行われている「パイロット・フォレスト（森林試験場）」を訪問した。
Visiting Pilot Forest- one of the activities of SOFEM at Tiba.

19．キトゥイ・センターのスタッフより、塩害による侵食の森林への影響に関する説明を受けた。
A staff of the center explained the influence of erosion caused by salt on forests .

20．日本のJICA の支援によって設置された木々への塩害侵食測定装置。
A machine for measuring erosion of the trees. The machine was installed with the support of JICA.

21．測定装置を動かすためにここから電力を引く。装置の盗難を防ぐために24時間監視体制をしいている。
Electricity is transfered from this box to operate the machine. The center established a 24 hour watchguard system to avoid the machine from being stolen.

22．ティバ地区の山々では、塩害による森林土壌侵食の影響が深刻だ。
Damage on the forests and the land caused by erosion is serious on the mountains in Tiba.

A freezer in the kitchen of the center which functions by charcoal. We can see charcoals at the door on the back.

27．同試験場にある養殖場。ティラピアやナマズが養殖されている。
The fishery at the center. Tirapia and catfish are raised there.

28．同試験場にある小規模灌漑用水。
A small irrigation race at the center.

29．SOFEM の事業の一環として、ティバ地区では一般農家を対象とし、「パイロット・ファーム（森林試験場）」を実施し、マンゴーなどの木を植林している。
Farmers plant trees such as mango as a part of the SOFEM Pilot Farm project at Tiba district.

30．森林試験場では、松の木の植林も行っていた。
Pine trees were also planted at the pilot farm.

31．ティバ地区の森林試験場には近郊に住む農民が見学に来ていた。
Farmers living closeby were visiting the center at Tiba.

ICAマリアカニ
ICA Mariakani

32．モンバサ近郊にあるICAマリアカニ事務所を訪問した。　
Visiting ICA Mariyakani office near Mombasa.

33．ICA マリアカニのプログラムマネージャーのビートリス・イマリ氏から、同事務所の活動の説明を受ける。
Ms.Beatrice Imali, the program manager of ICA Mariakani, is explaining about ICA Mariakaniﾕs activities.

34．モロンゴニ村における、ICAマチャコスによる農業と収入向上事業についての説明を聞く研修生。
The trainees are listening to the explanation about the Agriculture and Income Generation Project implemented by ICA Machacos at Molongoni village.

35．モロンゴニ村の訪問。ICAマリアカニは、同村で女性のための保健衛生事業を支援している。ICA事務所から村までは車で約2時間である。
Trainees visited Morongoni village where ICA Mariyakani is backing up health care activities for women. It takes about 2 hours from ICA office to the village by car.

36．訪問当日、ICAマリアカニ事務所の斡旋で町から医師と看護婦が来ていた。村の女性のための健康診断が行われており、多くの女性が診察を受けた。
Doctors and nurses visited Morongoni village arranged by ICA Mariakani. In the examinations, physical checkups for women were provoded, and many women participated to be examined.

37．当日偶然にも日本からICA日本のスタディーツアーの一行が村を訪れ、村人との交流会が開催された。
A study tour group of ICA Japan visited the village from Japan on the same day. A cultural exchange party was held between villagers and tour participants.
