ザンビア農村の青年に対する職業訓練（カピニ、イポンゴ、チョングウェ、カパンドゥウェ）
イポンゴ地区の農民クラブの代表者たちが、ICAザンビアの総会に参加するために、トラックでカピニ村へ向かう。(写真は、ICA日本からのボランティアとICAザンビアからの農業と井戸の専門家、農民たち) The chairmen of farmersﾕ clubs in Ipongo left for Kapini by the truck, to attend the Annual General Meeting. (Two volunteers from ICAJapan, the agriculturist & the specialist of water and sanitation from ICAZambia, and farmers, in the above picture)
ルサカ市内 LUSAKA
	1. 中心街 The center of Lusaka.
	2.　バスターミナル。カピニ村へは、ここからバスを乗り継いで１時間強である。Bus terminal in Lusaka. It takes about 1 hour to Kapini from here, by changing buses.
	3.　最近開店した巨大なショッピングセンター“Mandahill”。ここでは外国人の姿が目立つ。 This is the huge shopping center Mandahill, which was open recently. Therere a lot of foreigners coming here.
カピニ村 KAPINI Village
	4. 家の周りに広がる畑。ここでは、ほとんどの人が農業に携わっている。 Fields around houses. Most villagers are engaged in farming.
	5. 村でよく見られる家屋。壁は粘土から、屋根は草葺きからできている。屋根は一、二年に一回交換する。通常は長い間もつのだが、昨年の大雨では崩壊した家々があった。 A tipical and traditional mud house in villages. This is made from mud and grass. People change grass roof once in 1 or 2 years. It usually lasts long, but some houses collapsed because of heavy rain last year.
	6. 道端に点在する小さな店。パンや塩、電池、クッキー、など日用品が売られている。売り子は、これらをルサカから買ってくる。 There are small shops scattered along the paths in villates, which sell daily necessaries, like bread, salt, battery, cookie, and so on.
	7. ICAのプロジェクトセンター。ここにはのICAスタッフやボランティア用の宿泊施設と、ミーティング室がある。現在は、管理人家族、二人の青年海外協力隊員、ICAオランダと日本からのボランティアが滞在している。 ICAs progect center, with the accomodation for staffs and volunteers, and the meeting room. There are now two JOCVs, two volunteers from ICANetherlands, two from ICAJapan, and the caretakers here.
	8. ICAが建設した風車。これにより、地下から水を汲み上げ、村人が共同で使う。乾季には風がよく吹くが、雨期には風が吹かない事が多く、その際は井戸を利用する。村内にはもう一つ風車があるが、故障したままである。 The windmill built by ICA. Peopl share water pumped from underground by this windmill. Theres enough wind in dry season, but little in rainy season, when people use wells instead. Theres another windmill in Kapini, but out of order.
	9. 村内の数カ所に、井戸がある。 There are some wells scattered in the village.
	10. ザンビアの主食は、メイズの粉から作るシマと呼ばれるものである。カピニではトマトやたまねぎといった野菜と共に食べることがほとんどである。料理は女性の仕事とされている。 The staple food in Zambia is Nshima, made from meize. People usually ear nshima with relish like tomato, onion, etc. Cooking is womens work here.
	11. 青年海外協力隊員の関谷信人氏。二年間ICAザンビアで農業指導をしてきたが、この一月で任期を終了した。 Mr. Nobuhito Sekiya, JOCV, has worked in ICAZambia as the agriculturist for 2 years. He completed his work this January.
	12. 唯一のクリニック。医師は、薬やベッド、緊急用の交通手段の不足を訴えていた。現在は、Katuba Child & Family ProgramとLions Clubから支援を受けている。 The only one clinic in Kapini. According to the doctor, they are short of medicine, beds, and transportation for emergency. This clinic is supported by Katuba Child & Family Program and Lions Club.

	14. １２月１０日にkayosha小学校で終業式が行われた。今回から休みが約一ヶ月延長され、新学期は２月１日からとなった。子供達は嬉しそうだが、学校に行かない癖がついてしまうのでは、という声もある。 There was the closing ceremony in Kayosha primary school on 10th Dec. As the government recently decided to extend the holiday, the school will open from Ist February. Children seem so happy about it. On the other hand, some people are afraid if children will get used to staying home, rather than going to school.
	15. 協力隊員の関谷氏の支援の下、kayosha小学校に図書館がオープンした。本の数はまだ少ないが、歴史から科学まで幅広い分野の本が集められた。 The library was open, supported by Mr. Sekiya, JOCV. Though therere no so many books, they cover various fields like history, science, environment, etc.
	16. ICAザンビアにより支援されている、カピニ地区マシニャンボにある幼稚園。現在２人の教師がおり、５２人が登録している。子供達はここで簡単な英語や歌、スポーツ、作業などを学ぶ。しかし欠席がちの子供も多く、教師は両親に教育の重要性を訴え続けている。 The pre-school supported by ICAZambia, in Mwasinyambo. Therere 2 teachers and 52 registered children. Children learn English words, songs, sports, some works, and so on. However, therere some children who tend to be absent, so the teachers has told parents about how important education is.
	17.幼稚園教師のLilian。この１月からルサカできちんとした教育訓練を受ける。また現在、元教師のオランダ人ボランティアとともに、より良い教育方法を検討している。 The pre-school teacher, Lilian. She will take proper training in Lusaka from January, and has also tried better teaching methods with the dutch volunteer, who was teacher.
カピニ村の女性クラブ WOMEN'S CLUB in Kapini
	18. ５つの女性クラブのメンバーが集まり、昨年返済した人にのみ、メイズの種が貸し出された。ミーティング時には、各クラブの報告もなされたが、クラブによって活動状況にかなり差があるようだ。 Seed loan of maize was done by 5 womenﾕs clubs, for only the members who brought seed back last year. Each club reported about their activities in the meeting, but therere big difference among each clubs activities.
	19. メンバーに配られたメイズの種。 Seed of maize, which were distributed to members.
	20. 嬉しそうに種を受け取るメンバー達。 The members seemed so happy getting seeds.

カピニ村の農業 Agriculture in Kapini Village
	22. 今年は雨季がかなり遅れている上、コリドー病の蔓延により、多くの耕作用の牛が死んでいる。農民たちにとって、かなり厳しい状況である。 This year, rainy season has delayed so much, and many cattle for farming have died from Collido disease. This has made farmers suffering seriously.
	23. この農民は、広い土地を持っているものの、牛が死に、人手も足りないことから、ほんの一部分しか耕していない。「その上、このまま雨が降らなければ、せっかく蒔いた種も無駄になる」と言っていた。 Though this farmer has a big field, he can plough only a small part of it. This is because his cattle died and he is in lack of labor. He said, Worse still, if we will not have rain in a few days, the seeds which were sown will be wasted.
	24. 早い時期に種を植えられたメイズ。この農民はメイズの他に、オクラやトマトを栽培していた。 This is maize which has been planted earlier. This farmer has planted Okura and tomato, too.
	25. 柵に囲まれている牛。多くがコリドー病で死んでいるため、カピニでは珍しい光景。 The cattle kept insidethe fence. As many cattle died from Collido disease, this is the precious case in Kapini.
	26. 農民の中には、自分の畑の脇に、自らの手で簡単な井戸を掘っている人もいた。これは、耕作を容易くしてくれる。この地区は地下水位が高く、井戸水が得やすい環境である。しかし問題は、井戸を掘るにあたり、地中にある岩を取り除くことが難しく、途中で挫折してしまうケースも多いということだ。 Some farmers dug wells near their field, which makes their farming easier. As the watertable is high in this area, people can easily get groundwater. However, the problem is that many cases have failed because big rocks under the ground could not be removed.
	27. メイズと地元の野菜であるリボンドゥウェの混作。これにより、土の養分を効率的に利用できる。農民の中には、このように混作や輪作などの方法を使って、うまく耕作している人もいる。 This is the mixed cultivation, which can use the soil nutrients efficiently. Some farmers cultivate well, using sustainable methods, like mixed cultivation, crop rotation, etc.
	28. ある農民の畑では、年中水気のある風呂場の側に、乾季に耕作して、食べ物が不足する雨季に作物を得る。農民の知恵といえる。 For rainy season when food is lack, some farmer plants vegetable during dry season nearby the bathroon, where is watered throughout a year. This is one of their wisdom.
	29. クリスマス前に各女性クラブのメンバーに落花生の種が配られた。その場でついついつまんでしまう人もいたが、来年の返済を目指してすぐに作付けされる。 Ground nuts were distriuted for every member of wemens clubs. They start planting soon after this expecting ample harvest on next year.
カピニ村の職業訓練 Vocational Training
	30. 木工コースのインストラクター、Mr. Mbeewe とMr.Chifunga。自慢の木工用具を手にポーズ。今は静かなこのトレーニングセンターが研修生の熱気に包まれるのを心待ちにしている。 Carpentry instructers, Mr.Mbeewe and Mr,Chifunga standing with their tools. They are looking forward to new students filling this training centre with much eager to learn carpentry.
	31. Mr.Mbeeweは、村のお店の新装開店の折り、棚の設置を依頼された。村の数少ない大工として彼は頼りにされる存在だ。 Mr.Mbeewe is making new shelf for a villager whose shop is going to renewed. every villagers rely on him as the one of the few carpentries in the community.
	32. 溶接の卒業生の一人。今はその技術を溶接講師の仕事の補助で活かしているが、近い将来の起業目指し資金繰りに頭を悩ませている。 One of the graduates of welding course. He is looking for the fund to start own business as helping welding instructor at the moment.
	33. 煉瓦工コースの卒業生と今後の生活ビジョンについて話し合った。彼等は自分の技術を活かすための資金を待ち望んでいる。卒業生への支援は我々の重要な責務である。 We had a talk with the graduates of bricklaying course on thier future plan. They are waiting for the opportunity to set up their business. Arranging a support system for those graduates is the most significant responsibility for us.
	34. 養鶏コースの講師、Steward Kambuluka。彼によると、首都ルサカを中心に鶏肉への需要は大きい。養鶏ビジネスをうまくやっていくためのポイントは、極め細やかなケアすることで上質な鶏肉を育てること、そして顧客の要望に対して敏速な対応ができるような体制を整えることだと言う。そのためには、コンスタントに鶏肉を供給できるシステムが必要であり、カピニ村では現在、２つの小屋で発育段階の違う鶏を育てることで、それに対応している。 The instructor of poultry couse, Steward Kambuluka. According to him, there is the big and constant demands for chickens, especially in Lusaka. The important points in managing poultry business is, first, to raize good quality chickens by taking good & constant care of them. Second, it is vital to take quick response to the customers, by supplying chickens constantly. Towards this goal, the participants will raize chickens in different steps, in a few different poultry houses.
	35. 養鶏小屋。現在は理論コースが始まったばかりなので、鶏はいない。カピニ村には２つの小屋があるが、常に鶏肉を供給できる体制を目指す上で、もう一つ小屋があることが理想だという。それについては、近く煉瓦工コースの訓練生が実践として建設する予定である。 A poultry house. As it is the practical period now, there is no chicken in it. There are 2 poultry houses in Kapini now, but this is not enough for supplying chickens constantly. As they want one more house, the participants of bricklaying course will build the one as practical near future.
	36. 養鶏コースの事前ミーティング。参加者と共に、スケジュールを決める。今回の参加者は１０人となっている。 The meeting for deciding the schedule of poultry course, with the participants. There are 10 participants this period.
	37. 洋裁コースの卒業生。現在、３人づつで構成される協同組合が２つあり、コミュニティー内で洋服を売っている。メンバーは、自分達のビジネスに自信を持っており、女性の自立につながっている。 The graduates of tailoring course. There are 2 co-operative society, formed by 3 guraduates each, making dresses for the community. These members are confident with their own business. This has promoted womenﾕs independence.
	38. 新しく理事長に就任したMs. Eularia Z. Syamjayeが、カピニ村の視察に訪れた。スタッフを集めて、現状や今後の方針について話し合いが持たれた。新理事長は、ICAザンビアやコミュニティーの自立を説き、強いリーダーシップを発揮していた。 Ms. Eularia Z. Syamjaye, the new director, visited Kapini for seeing the projects and having discussion on the current situation and the future with staffs. She insisted on the independence of community and ICAZ, with strong leadership.
イポンゴ村 Ipongo Village
	イポンゴ村 39. Ipongo村。ICAザンビアのスタッフ２人が、この建物に寝泊まりしながら、活動している。彼等は日々農民の畑を回っており、農民からも信頼されている。この建物にも、毎日のように村人が訪ねてくる。 Ipongo village. There are 2 ICAZ staffs, staying at this house, They visit villagers fields everyday. Thus, the people trust them so much that they come to this house for consultation everyday.
	40. イポンゴ村にある小さな商店。バイクで乗り付けているのが、農業専門家のSinyangwe氏。村びとの畑を巡回してきた帰り。 The man on the bike in front of the small shop is Mr. Sinyangwe, the agriculturist. He just came back from villagers fields.
	41. ICAザンビアの水資源と衛生管理の専門家であるSinpasa氏。イポンゴ村では、井戸の設置や道路の整備、家畜の健康管理などを担当している。 Mr.Sinpasa, the specialist on water & sanitation, ICAZambia. He has worked on construction & management of wells, construction of road, health care of cattle, and so on.
	42. イポンゴ川の水源。年中水が絶えることはない。村人はここから水を汲んで、使う。 The water source of Ipongo river, which supplies water throughout a year. Villagers get water from it for their life.
	43. 村のはずれには、大きな沼があり、ここで魚を採って生計をたてている村人もいる。 There is a big swamp in Ipongo. Some villagers earn their living by catching fish.
	44. 魚を売っている村人。村の中では、他にインパラなどの肉や卵を売りにくる人もいる。 The villager who sells fish. There are some other villagers who sell game meet, eggs, and so on.
	45. ある村人は、古い自転車の車輪を利用して、高熱の火をおこす自家製の溶接機を発明していた。鉄くずなどを拾い集めて、そこから新しい農具を作って売ったり、農具の修理を請け負ったりしている。その場にある資源を最大限に活用する、生活の知恵である。 There is some villager who invented the welding machine, with the old wheel of a bicycle for making constant fire for welding. He collects iron scrap or useless iron tools, and makes new farming tools with it for villagers. He also repairs those tools with this machine. This is the local wisdom of maximumizing the local resources they have.
	46. 村の道端や教会など数カ所に、新しく始まる煉瓦工コースの告知が貼られている。１週間の登録期間を通して、２３人の男性が登録した。登録生が二ケ所に分散しているため、コースも週２回づつそれぞれの場所で行う予定である The instructor of bricklaying course put the notice in some places, like the roadside, church, etc. Theres one week for registration, and 23 men registered this time. As those registered people are scattered into 2 areas, the instructor will have the classes twice a week, at each area.
	47. 煉瓦工コースの講師と登録生。登録生の多くは、コース終了後にまず自分の家を建てることで技術をアピールし、コミュニティー内で仕事を得たいと言う。 The instructor and the registered person of bricklaying course. most of the registered people want to build their own houses for appealing their skill, and get the jobs inside the community.

	49.イポンゴ村に３０ある農民クラブの穀物貯蔵庫の一つ。クラブメンバーのミーティングにも利用される。 One of the club shelters which exist 30 in Ipongo. This shelter is also used as a place for meeting of a club member.
	50. この日、とある穀物倉庫では、メンバーが集まりトウモロコシの種について議論をしていた。このクラブは子連れの女性も積極的に参加し、よく組織されているという。 There gathered members of a farmers club to discuss about maize seed. This club is well organized with good participation of women who arecaring their baby.
	51. この日は、トウモロコシの種がそれぞれのメンバーに配られた。メンバーは、この日貰ったのと同量の種を次の収穫の時にクラブに返却する。 Today is the day that Maize seeds are distributed among the club members. Every members are supposed to return the same amount of seeds after next harvest.
	52.イポンゴの農業プロジェクトにおいてICAZとCLUSA(NGO団体）が協力することになった。この日は小学校で、その代表と農民との意見交換が行われた。 ICAZ and another NGO, CLUSA established a cooperative relationship on the agriculture in Ipongo. There was held a meeting between a representative of the NGO and villagers at the primary school.
	53. ある農民の畑で、芽を出したメイズに化学肥料が施肥されている様子。農業専門家が、正しく施肥されているかをチェックする。 Some farmers maize fields are fertilized with proper instruction of agriculturist in Ipongo, where the soil is relatively fertile.
ICAザンビア年次総会 Annual General Meeting of ICA Zambia
	54. 12月18日、カピニ村で年次総会が行われた。４つの村の農民クラブの代表も初めて招かれ、画期的な総会になった。 Annual general meeting was held in Kapini on 18th December. This meeting ended with a big success with the participation of the villagers for the first time.
	55.この年次総会で、村人の代表が男女一人づつ選ばれた。積極的に立候補する村びとの姿が勇ましい。 Two villagers of man and woman were elected as a representative for top meeting. Their agressiveness to be a candidate looks very encouraging.
	56. 帰国直前にオフィスの前で、会計担当のMr.Silumessiと、いつも美味しい食事を作ってくれるMs Joisと共に。 A snap taken in front of the office with Mr. Silmessi, accountant, and Ms Jois who is in charge of a kitchen and feeds for staffs.
	57. 12月半ばに、ICAJからボランティアとして派遣さた藤井慎太郎さん。持ち前の明るさで、自ら積極的にに養鶏コースに参加する。すっかり生徒になりきっていた。 Mr. Shintaro Fujii was sent from ICAJ as a volunteer on mid December. He takes part in a poultry course with his cheerful characteristic.Good luck, Shintaro!
	58. 南アフリカよりルサカへ向かうバス。ジンバブエと南アの国境ベイトブリッジにて。モザンビークの水害ではここも洪水に見舞われた。 The bus to go toLusaka.Here is the border line between SouthAfrica and Zinbabwe where the flood came from Mozanbeek.
	59. いよいよザンビアへ入国、この国境の荷物検査は厳しい。 I am coming toZambia.The check of bagage was very serious.
	60.年次総会の準備にスタッフは大忙し The staffs are so busy for preparation of anual general meeting.
	61. 洋裁コースの授業風景。お母さんは子守りと勉強に大忙し The lesson to tailoring corous.This mothere is busy to keep her child and study.
	62. 緑肥用の畑を耕す。炎天下、これはけっこう重労働であった Plowing the farm for green manure.It was hard work for me in the hottest day.
	63. 村で唯一のクリニックにポンプが寄付された。村びとによって取り付けられて院長も誇らし気。 The hand pomp was donated to the clinic.The villagers set it.The doctor proud it.
	64. 引っ越し前のＩＣＡザンビアのオフィス。手前右はフローレンス氏 ICA Zambia office before shifting.
	65. 養鶏コースの理論を学ぶ生徒。黒板の左に立つのが講師のスチュワート　カンブルカ先生。彼の教育方針は生徒主体の授業。今日は生徒のリッチフォード君に授業をさせてみる。 The students learn the poultry theory.The teacher is Mr.kanbuluka at the left side of black boad.Today he make the student teach lesson.
	66. いよいよひよこが届く。養鶏小屋の掃除にも力が入る。 The chicks arrive soon.The students clean their poultry house harder.
	67. 養鶏小屋掃除が終わってひと休み。僕らの団結は難い。 Let`take arest after cleaning poultry house.We are good company.
	68. 今年の方針を話し合うスタッフミーティング。左は青年海外協力隊員の柿沼瑞穂さん。 The staff meeting about what they will do in this year.The left side is Kakinuma Mizuho from JOCV.
	69. チョングエのトレーニング施設。バイクにまたがるのはスタッフのムソンダさん。 This is the trainning centre at Chongwe.The man rides morter bike is Mr Musonda.
	70. 農民クラブのメイズを誇らし気に見せるムソンダさん。住民はＩＣＡの農業活動に大変喜んでいる。。 Mr.Musonda shows the farmer`sclub`s maize.The villagers are very glad the support of ICA Zambia.
	71. 生徒とのミーティング。生徒は卒業後コミュニティーの役に立ちたいと熱く語っていた。 The meeting with the students .They hope to work at their communitee after graduate.
	72. 穀物倉庫を造るクラブメンバー。チョングエ地区の倉庫設備はメンバーの自慢だ。 The club menber are making the shed.Their sheds in chongwe are better than other area.
	73. 牛を使って畑を耕す。人がやるよりもずっと早い。。 The cattles are plowing the farm.It is much faster than man power.
	74. チョングエでは今病院を建設中。その建設業者、中国人の李さんとボランティア藤井慎太郎。 The Chinese Mr.Lee is the building clinic at Chongwe.
	75. 牛を解体し食用に売っているところ。ザンビアでは牛肉が最も安い。 He is selling cow meat.It is the cheapest meat in Zambia.
	76. カパンドゥエのスタッフパトリシアとトラスト。トラストは毎日バイクで農家を訪問する。 Mr.Trust and Mrs.Patricia,they are the staff of Kapandwe.He visits the farners by ICA moter bike every day.
	77. 小学校での授業風景。今日は特別に社会科として日本とザンビアについての授業をやらせていただいた。 The lesson at Kayosya primary school where I teach social science-thedifference Zambia and Jpan.She is drawing the Zambian flag.
